WEEK-END COURSE APRIL 1-2 2017:

MOVEMENT, BREATH AND UN/STEADY PRESENCE: YOGA AS ONE SELF-EXPLORATIVE PROCESS

Contact me for information about the course in English.

Time: 10Am-3PM Saturday & Sunday / Price: 1600 kr

DAILY MYSORE STYLE ASHTANGA YOGA

The morning teaching is closed from February 1st 2017, because Siri is giving priority to self-practice. The information below is therefore only for the reader´s orientation about prior teaching program.

I offer traditional Mysore style Ashtanga yoga, which is a daily morning practice. I teach this style of yoga in the context of a broader Hatha Yoga practice, which, in addition to asana (the physical poses), includes pranayama (formal breathing techniques), kriyas (tension-reducing techniques), mantra and meditation. On application I require a commitment, i.e. that you have opportunity and motivation for a minimum of 3 weeks daily or almost daily practice. Naturally it is also fine to be absent when needed. The purpose of this commitment is to offer teaching with a high quality for every student. All levels are welcome. Please contact me for more information in English.

Teaching program:

- "Explorative Mondays": led class exploring a variety of Hatha yoga practices: Mondays 07.30-08.30.

- Self-practice with individual instructions/Mysore-style Ashtanga yoga: Tuesday - Friday 07.15 - 09.15 AM.

BIO:

Siri Selvik Kruse has extensive experience in traditional yoga practice and teaching. She has 12-13 years of specialization in Ashtanga yoga as taught by Sri K. Patthabi Jois, and teaches in his Mysore-style Ashtanga yoga, but in the context of a broader, comprehensive Hatha Yoga practice. This includes, in addition to asana (the physical postures) pranayama (formal breathing techniques), kriyas (tension-reducing techniques), mantra and seated meditation.

Siri is deeply grateful for the personal supervision of international prominent teachers of Ashtanga yoga and Pranayama. She sees Paul Dallaghan as her most influential teacher, both in her own practice and as a tutor to teach the yogic methods in an integrated and dogma-free way, so that the practice can promote genuine and free self-exploration. Yoga is one holistic meditative process - the nature in us naturally available to conscious experience. In the same vein, it is important experience for Siri to study with Sri O.P. Tiwari, Paul´s teacher and the foremost authority on Pranayama in modern times. The importance of a rich and varied practice is described in the traditional texts of Hatha Yoga, including Hatha Pradipika.

Siri is also deeply grateful to Prem and Radha Carlisi for a personal tutor relationship for several years, with eminent training in the teaching of Mysore-style Ashtanga yoga, integrated with knowledge of Ayurveda - the yogic lifestyle scientific approach. Siri assisted Prem and Radha in the daily teaching at Ashtanga Yoga Bali Research Centre 9 months from 2013-14, before she opened Akerselva Ashtanga with their recommendations in August 2014. Siri is also very grateful for practice and guidance from Alexander Medin and Kajsa Finnström.

Siri also works as a clinical psychologist, specializing in body-based and relational psychoanalytic therapy at the Norwegian Character Analytic Institute. She is keen to implement knowledge on yoga in the understanding of psychotherapy - and vice versa.
